I enjoyed the NBC trip a lot it was very and since then I notice the studio on tv I would like to Thank Ms Haigler for accepting me into project Boost and for letting me go on the trip I was really surprised that there were 300 lights and 5-6 cameras. I was really surprised that they do Saturday night live and jimmy Fallon show in that 1 building. When they are on tv they look big but in real life they are really small. I would love to work there. Most jobs require technology experience.
I had a fun time in the city. We visited the NBC Studios. NBC means National Broadcasting Company. We met different NBC Pages who introduced us to the studios. I learned many things about NBC that I never knew before. I know now that if there is an error on the show, the show as to pay a quarter of a million dollars to get back on the air. Also, I saw the three main stages, the Today show stage, and the place where the magic happens. Also, did you know that the cameras there make someone or something 10% bigger?
The job of an NBC page is to introduce and check up on certain things. To apply for this position you after you finish college you go on a whole bunch of interviews.NBC stands for National Broadcasting Company.4 interesting facts that I learned about NBC as a result of the tour is that a lot of famous people performed as guess stars. They have 300 lights in one studio room.In one of the rooms they use a green screen. They also have a monitor to tell people what to say. These things stands out to me .These things stands out to me because they are something I don't hear and see everyday
If you worked at NBC in one of the studios, which famous person would you like to meet and see and why? Think in terms of the career you would like to have when you become an adult. (Ms.H)
Like Kavian, I learned so many things about NBC Studio. I saw the main stage where they tape the Today show and there were so many lights in the studio. If there is a power outage, they put one hundred and seventy five batteries that last for thirty minutes and soon they will have a generator that lasts for a week. Therefore, they will need a generator once a week until power is restored.
NBC means National Broadcasting Company. A worker at the NBC studio has different jobs, they all have to do each job as a rotation process. To apply for this job you must have a resume from college and do reviews several times.
Four facts about NBC studio:
1) They use green screens to make unusual things show up during the show. 2) On camera, the images looks ten percent larger than it actually is off camera. 3) If there is a power outage, they put in one hundred seventy five batteries that last for thirty minutes and soon they will have a generator that lasts for a week. 4) They make masks for non fiction time when they make your head look different such as an alien face.
These things stand out for me because I did not know they use green screens or masks. If anything I thought that they drew these things sometimes. I also wanted to know how you get a job at NBC as a news reporter or anchoring the news. Also, I wanted to know how they dealt with power outages. I did not know that they used so many batteries and it only lasts thirty minutes and that a generator only last one week. That means that they will need a generator once a week until power is restored. It was fascinating to learn about these facts at NBC studio.
Cameron, I was not aware that a generator would only last a week either. You may want to google one of the news reportors on NBC or any news channel and find their email or twitter account and reach out to them to find out how a news reporter gets hired and becomes an anchor. Let me know what you find out and share with the group. Ms. H
A page has to finish college, put out a resume, and get interviewed to become a page. They are supposed to do various task such as handling technology. Four interesting facts are that NBC was the first TV channel. NBC broadcasted many famous shows such as Sanford And Son. They broadcast S.N.L. They have technology that makes our TV clearer and sharper. Those facts are interesting because those are facts that most people do not know. For example the desk that the news reporters sit at look humungous on the television. However, it is pretty small off camera.
It takes a lot of work to become an NBC Page. Would you ever want to have this job after you finish college? Sandfor and Son was one of my favorite shows growing up.
An Nbc page job is to run errands around the building and other tasks, you can get this job after you complete college and go threw varius interviews.Nbc is an Acronim for National Brodcasting Company.I also saw that all the things that Nbc studios brodcast are in Hd,the nbc Page runs errands, technicans deals with electronics and make-up artist makes all the masks these stuck out to me because they are all the major things that nbc needs.
1)NBC studios stands for National Broadcast Company. 2)The page's job has to do specific tasks for different programs. Like doing interviews with superstars.First they have to finish school go to college and then apply. Intresting Facts 1)NBC studips has three different stages that stars perform on. 2)NBC company has the first channel on television. 3)Over 300 lights are on during a show. 4) The creator of NBC is David Sarnoff.
On December 14th 2012 we went to the city. One of our stops was at the NBC Studio.(1) I learned that job of a NBC Page is to run errands around the building. In order to apply for the job a person must finish college, put out a resume and get interviewed.(2)I also learned that NBC stands for National Broadcast Company. (3) Some interesting facts that I have learned during the NBC tour was all the broadcast are in HD. My favorite fact was how the chairs are smaller than what they really look like on tv. This stood out for me because i would have never known that if i did not go on the tour.
1) the job of a page would be to work around the television network . to apply for this job you would first you would have to be out an all ready past college . you would send in an res-ma , regrading all your personal information 2) NBC stands for national broadcast company .
1)how the camera makes everything 10 times bigger 2)they use the green screen for the news motion pictures 3) how they put on a full decorated mask in less than 10 min. 4)how the actor can choose the set theme I find these facts interesting to me because thing i never new , things i have always wanted to know .
I agree with everyone that it's a great trip, but also I just thank Mrs.Hagiler for the experience and thank you Ms. McShane to chaperone us during the trip. I know I asked a lot of questions, and it made some people annoyed. At the end of the day, we still work together as a community and we work unanimously to move forward. I think that I might want to work as an NBC Page when I grow up. I might because it incorporates the things I like. For example, I love technology, acting, and meeting new people. Being an NBC Page, you still get the opportunity to do this. This reminds me of the Pages I meet there. They look professional and speak like a normal delegate would act. They really had the features of a independent person working for what they want and need. That is actually what I want to do. Giving people a hint of what I can do is important because it gives off a shine that I can achieve anything if I put my mind to it. That can also be an example that we can be someone, someday. The experience is unbelievable and extraordinary. I wish I could do it again. That is why I'm proud to be in Project BOOST. This what this program s made to do. To show kids that wonders of the world and to show them to different things. When that happens, we as children see things differently in this atmosphere. Experiences makes you learn more and differently.
AWW Kavian, you are most welcome!!! Yes, you did ask many questions but did not annoy people. You have to learn that everyone need to have a chance to ask a question. Remember we had tourists in our group and they were just as interested in learning and asking questions. Sometimes we have to give others a chance. I think you would be an excellent Page since the job entails all that interests you. (Ms.H)
The NBC page works and assist the workers at the studio. Most of the time they to complete four years of college. They have to send in a resume and have some experience in broadcasting or management.
NBC stands for National Broadcasting Center.
Four interesting facts I learned as a result of the NBC tour are: *On television the space looks bigger. However, when I was in the studio the space seems smaller. *There are so many lights because they want to prevent shadows. *There were 3 different stages in the studio. *In the studio there was a green screen and they were able to change the background.
Those things stood out because I thought these facts were very interesting. It helped me learn more about the NBC studio. At home watching television I would never know all these happen in the studio. It looks so easy watching it on television, but it takes a lot of work and smart people to run a studio.
These are some of the things that have really caught my attention. That is why I have chosen these areas as the four things to be my most interesting facts. Viewing the operation of a studio in reality amazed me as compared to watching the television at home.
NBC stands for national broadcasting company. To become a NBC page you must have interviews and write a resume. one fact I learned was in case of a blackout first they use 175 batteries. IT's interesting because that's a mighty amount. Another is that CBS and ABC are their biggest competitors. It's interesting because those two are both great news channels. Also If the 175 batteries stop working they use a week long lasting generator. Lastly, I can't believe that HD made the set look 10% bigger. It's amazing how small the set is. I would like to see Brian Williams because I'm his biggest fan. I wouldn't want to be a page because it's to difficult. I'll stick to my swag.
their job is to do errands around the building. in order to apply for the job, they have to do training first. NBC stands for national broadcasting company. 1.they make shows and movies. 2. they make interesting costumes for charaters. 3. they use 300 lights. 4. they make shows for children. these stood out for me because when i grow up, i want to work in NBC. I can show other people what they do just like they did for us. Plus, i got really interesting in what they were introducing to us.
the trip was fun. i had so much fun that i was so excited. i got interested in what they was talking about. i learned what they do and what their company is about.i hope to go again.

P.S.36 Cameron Jardine 5-502 12-29-12 Project Boost Assignment 2 Eagle Academy is a junior high school for only young men through sixth to eighth grade. The address of this school is 171-10 Linden Blvd, Jamaica New York, 11434. It used to be a school that shares space with I.S.59 which is a Public school. I am not quite sure but I do not think those two schools got along together since I.S.59 is a Public school and Eagle Academy is a Charter school. You might be wondering what is the difference between a Charter school and a Public school. You see, Charter schools are elementary or secondary schools in the United States that receive Public money but have been freed from some rules and regulations, and statutes that are applied in Public schools. Charter schools do not have much freedom but it helps because you get more education. Did you know that they moved the school to a new location in 2010? Although, I was not surprised. After that they had college prep, Saturday programs and summer programs. Did you know that Eagle Academy is an all-boys school because they wanted to help young men pay more attention in school? I actually like that decision though. I was surprised when I heard that students have to earn their tie. If you would like to call their phone number or Fax number it is 718-723-4709. I also found out that the principal is Kenyatte Reid, the network leader is Jean Meckon, the community district superintendent is Murray Lenon, and the education council president is Alicia Hyndman.

Eagle Academy is male only because 44% of men graduate.Enrollment is usually 550. Attendance is 86.8%. The graduation rate is 72.6%.College ready percentage is 11.3%. It was created so men would not drop out of school. It includes a weight room, recording studio and senate chamber. 4 questions I would ask students are -is this a friendly environment, what are their favorite subjects, do they have gym, and which teachers are the most popular. 4 questions I would ask the staff are- are they accepting scholarships, do they have good security, do they have afterschool and how do they select the students.
The Eagle Academy for Young Men is part of a network of all-boys schools founded by One Hundred Black Men, Inc. The school opened in 2010 in the I.S. 59 building with a 6th grade class and will expand by one grade per year until it reaches its target capacity serving grades 6 to 12.
Like its brother schools, Eagle Academy for Young Men, and Eagle Academy for Young Men at Ocean Hill, Eagle Academy III's mission is to boost the achievement of young men from poor and at-risk backgrounds. At school students are "provided with advisors, supportive mentors, and a devoted faculty, committed to providing a strong support system for all our young men," according to the DOE's website. The school offers extra academic support on weekends and during the summer through two signature Eagle Academy Foundation programs: The Saturday Institute and Summer Bridge.

hey guys its aubhrey I'm in waterbury and just finished homework. we have to do aq lot of work. how are you guys doing down there. do any of you plan on going to eagle academy. i heard it was an outstanding school. how ever they give lots of homework to the students
Well, we already went to Eagle Academy. It is amazing! We met new and old friends. Today, we went to the high school we were assigned to go to. The students there are very generous and they have a lot of creativity in their blood. It is a specialized school. That have alot of programs, extra curricilar activities, and clubs to try. It is amazing. When are you coming back to New York?
Eagle Academy opened in 2010 at IS 59 in Springfield Gardens. However, it is now housed at 171-10 Linden Blvd. This school has grades 6 thru 8 and is part of District 29. It is an all boys academy. The principal is Kenyatte Reid. The total enrollment is 164.
Eagle Academy is a public school. This school is only for boys because the program provides intense academics and a supportive environment to young men of color who may be at risk of falling behind or dropping out of high school.
Students are selected to attend the school by attending open houses and sending in an application. Also a letter of recommendation is rerquired. The school does not screen applicants, but takes young men who are serious about their studies and serious about their future.
Question for the staff: What programs are offered at Eagle Academy?
Question for students: What is the difference between an elementary and middle school?
Eagle Acadamey is a all boys school located in Jamaica Queens on Linden Blvd. Ealge is a unscreened school however, you need a letter of recommedation and show that you are serious about going to the school to be accepeted. Classes are 45 minutes long and they have 6 after school programs. Eagle is the only public middle school that has football. If students score drop below a 85% they can be kicked off the team.
Questions for the staff What is your favorite part about working at eagle acadamey? What do you do when a student is failing? If you owned the school what would you do different ? What are some of the rewards you give to encourage students to do well ?
Questions for students What do you like about the most about Eagle Acadamey? How does it feel to be in a school with all boys, how does it feel have a football team? Do you feel like your school supports you when you need? What would you say to other boys about your school to make them want to come to the school?
I learned a lot visiting Eagle Academy and The High School for Math, Science and Engineering. Eventhough, I am in the 4th grade I have to start thinking about middle school, high school and college. These schools both talked about choosing the right school for your future profession. Going to a school that is has high expectations for their students is very important. Also, the school must have classes and activities that keep students interested while learning. The visitors from the school of writing talked about the different programs and activities the school offers. You can get into the program by having good grades and you have to write an essay explaining why you want to go to that school. Children get rewarded if they behave and do all their work. It's a uniform school. They wear white, black and green. They also have Dress Down and Fun Day Friday, just like us. You also have to be a fabulous writer to get in the program. It really helped me to understand that I need to get ready now!
After visiting Eagle Academy and The High School for Math, Science and Engineering, I learned that the work is far more advanced as you move from grade to grade. To succeed you have to study very hard and be very serious if you want to excel in middle and high schools, so as to get into a good college. Rules are made to be followed and if they are broken a student will have to suffer the consequences. Some of those rules include not bringing any electronics such as cell phones to school. Also, punctuality and regular attendance are very important. Of the two schools, Eagle is the only uniformed school. Students are required to wear uniforms Monday to Thursday, and Friday is Dress Down Day, similar to us.
The environment is very clean for both schools, but Eagle Academy is much more quiet. In both schools some students seemto take their work seriously.
At Eagle, there are different bells for different subjects. They have five pillars - C for Confident, L for Leadership, A for Academically excellent and R for Resilience.
Going to these two schools have given me a head start on preparing for middle and high schools.
Glad the exposure to these schools have given you food for thought on doing your best and choosing the school that best fits you. There are other middle and high schools that you may want to look into as well. But the key is having good grades and making sure you have study habits that will able you to achieve to your highest ability.
The schools that we went to were both great but the one I liked the most were HSMSE. I liked that school because it had more excitement, creativeness, and smart and intelligent students. Eagle academy had smart and intelligent students but it did not have creativeness and any excitement to go to that school and it is not for girls from going to the school. HSMSE made me think like what would it feel like to come to this school? What would make me come to this school? Why would I come to this school? Would this school be right for me? Would I fit in ore out? I had a lot of questions.
The questions that I had about middle school. Is middle school like, have hard work or just hard work? What is it like to be in middle school? Does middle school have project B.O.O.S.T like my school? Does your middle school have a website like others?
The questions that I had about high school? Is the high school SWT {state wide test} hard? What kind of classes do you take? Do you have to switch from class to class? Do you have to go out and buy your own lunch?
The questions that I had for college? Do you have to live on campus? What time do you have to get to school? How many minutes is each class? Can you live far to campus? What time do you get out of school?
You have many thought provoking questions. Middle school is different from elementary, there is much more responsibilites and independence. You will be able to handle it if you stay focused on your goals and always do your best.
I really enjoyed both the scholls , I had a very fun experience at both scholls . I like how we got to talk and ask some question from thetudent of eagle acdemy and the high school for math sicence and engineering. My feelings about both schools i have to say the terms of work they get really get you ready for the furture. Both schools to me are A+,they are schools have that something other schools dont have . for example eagle acdemy was the only middle school to have 6-7 after school programs .Also the high school for math, science , and engineering was the only middle school to be attaced to another sports high school . I really like how both schools have a saying moto , for instance eagle acdemy had TEAM T-togethere E-everyone A-acives M-more the high school math science and engineering had STEAM S-science T-Tecnolge E-engineering A-and M-math I think from going to the elementry school and high school i can set my gaols , to be ready for both elementry and high school
My experience with eagle academy was really good. They kept their school in shape.Don't let the fun fool you because they are a strict school. They have many events and trips. They have this thing called Together my experience at the high school was amazing also. They also Everyone have fun events going on.However they do not tolerate the Achieves nonsense.I really liked that school. More
I learned a lot at Eagle Academy. It's a specialized Junior High school that has consequences when u don't follow the rules. For example: if you are late for class, you have to stay in for detention. If you are failing you may be kicked off the sport team. Otherwise, it's a very great school that helps to educate and discipline young black men. Questions: 1) What does CLEAR stand for? 2) Do you take a test to get into this school? 3) What special celebration does this school celebrate?
The High School for Math, Science and Engineering has all sorts of subjects but their main goal is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). There are a lot of clubs such as basketball, dancing, soccer, football and etc. This school is the most diverse in the whole state. The school mascot is a purple dragon. In one art class, they wanted to rule the school in a more effective and fun way by making a purple dragon that they hung on the wall. This school also offers college courses. I love this school and the energy that comes with it. It's academically driven but also fun. I love math and science and wouldn't mind going to this high school. Questions: 1) Is there a test to get into this high school? 2) What special celebration does this school celebrate?
Yes Cameron, there is an exam you must take to get into the H.S. As the principal pointed out students have to take the specialized high school exam. This is the one exam a student takes if they want to attend a specialized H.S such as the one we visited, Brookyn Tech, Bronx H.S. of Science, etc. You take the exam in 8th grade but it was also stated in our visit that one should begin studying now. It is not to early.
when visiting Eagle Academy I experienced how it feels in schools when there are bells that tell when you are late and should get out of class. I also experienced how an eagle academy classroom works. Also I experienced how students get to class. In terms of work I think there is a high standard considering how much it impacts your grade. I think the rules are very strict because for example if you show up late for class you get punished. I think it's a very friendly environment.
When visiting High School for math science and engineering I experienced how their students eat at lunchtime. They sit outside and eat because they don't have a cafeteria. Also I heard how loud the teenager's were. I also experienced how the classrooms look for example art and technology. Art has a lot of sculptures and the kids work with computers in technology. I think they do a lot of work because they have a lot of classrooms. The school seems very strict to me. They have a very friendly environment.
I had the flu so i was unable to make both trips. From the responses it seems like i missed out on a good experience. I learned a lot reading the comments from everyone. I look forward to the next trip.
The trip was amazing the students were very friendly and adjusted to us really quickely. THey seemed to be happy and what the counceller said looked that everyone benifeted from being at each school.
When I grow up I want to have a successful career. In order for me to achieve this I will have to get a great education. I will need impeccable grades. My behavior will have to be great as well. If I want to have a great career I need to start preparing myself now. When I grow up I want to go to Harvard University. The High school I would like to go to is Bayside. These schools and college's only want great students. Level four students that meet the requirements to be in the school. During my experience in Project Boost we visited Eagle Academy a junior high school and H.S.M.E. The students at those schools talked to me and said that after elementary school everything is just different. You get treated a like an adult. School just gets tougher and tougher. They told us to enjoy our elementary school days. In junior high and High school it’s a whole different ball game. When I was in third grade I painted a huge portrait showing that I wanted to be a doctor. My principal said if I become a doctor I can come back and get the picture. My picture is displayed in the auditorium hanging on the wall. This is my goal that is what I am shooting for. When I grow up I want to be the best I can be.
Dear Cameron, I visited a junior high school and a high school in the past two weeks and have learned so much about these schools that it has encouraged me to work harder to achieve my goals of wanting to go to the best schools. I would like to go to Poly Prep Junior High School and Poly Prep High School. There is an entrance exam and also a tuition fee. There is financial aid and scholarships available. My goal is to achieve this through Prep for Prep. This is a rigorous program that helps you to attend one of the best schools in New York. In order to be accepted into the program, you have to score high on the entrance exam. I will work harder this year to achieve my goal of passing that exam. I will use Eagle Academy’s motto of CLEAR: C – Confidence, L – Leadership, E – Effort, A – Academically Excellent, R – Resilience to be successful in achieving my goals. I will keep in mind that there will be disappointments and setbacks but I will not let that discourage me. I will keep on working hard. Secondly, I will remember that I have to earn things by doing the right thing. I have to study hard and remain focus. In high school, I will follow my career dream of becoming a scientist. I know that high school prepares you for college and I can start taking college courses while I am in high school. I will also be part of the Science Club in high school. I will keep my new motto CLEAR through high school and into college. Finally, there is college, the most important and the hardest part but if you paid attention in high school, then college would be a breeze. I would like to go to Yale University where I can accomplish my dream of becoming a scientist. The most important thing I learned from visiting both schools was that as you advance in grade, the work becomes more challenging. Each school has their own motto to encourage the students to stay focus and to succeed in their education. The middle school and high school that we visited had more of differences than similarities. Their similarities are that they are two good schools with inspirational motto such as CLEAR and STEM. The differences are that the high school is a specialized high school while Eagle Academy is a charter school. In order to attend the high school, you would have to score high on the Specialized High School Admission Test, and for the junior high school you have to write an essay on why you would like to attend that school. Also Eagle Academy students wear uniforms and the High School for Math, Science and Engineering does not require uniform. As I embark on my journey to junior high school, I will take with me CLEAR all the way through to college.
I really enjoyed both schools , I had a very fun experience at both schools . I liked how we got to talk and ask questions from the students of the school .My feelings about both schools I have to say the terms of work they do,really get you ready for the future. Both schools to me are both schools that deserve and have an A+,they are both schools that have something that other schools such as high schools and elementry schools don't have. For example Eagle academy was the only middle school to have 6-7 after school programs . Also the high school for math, science and engineering was the only high school to be attached to another sports high school . I also liked how both schools had a little moto , Eagle academy had TEAM T- TOGETHER E-EVERYONE A- ACHIEVES M-MORE The high school for math science and engreenig had something all high schools used as a moto STEAM S-SCIENCE T-TECNOLGY E-ENIGINEERING A-ACHIEVES M-MORE I think that from visting an ELEMENTRY SCHOOL and high school , I know what to do and set my goals . For the coming grades .
I didn't only have fun however; I got a heads-up on how you can get into middle and high school. One fact is that you have to stay focused on your goals, and have pride in your-self. In Eagle Academy, their five pillars are C.L.E.A.R. C stands for Confidence, L for Leadership, E for Effort, A for Academically Excellence, and R for Resilience. Eagle Academy's motto was T.E.A.M. Together, Everyone, Achieves, More. In the school for math, science, and engineering, their motto is Science, Technology, Engineering, Achieves, More. Now that I know what I need to get into middle and high school, I will do my endeavor best to succeed in life.
I really enjoyed both schools. They have different activities for the students. We went Eagle Academy and I enjoyed every bit of it. The boys there were dressed for school and the teachers teach the students the things I didn't expect. In the High School of Math, Science, and Engineering, I saw creative students. We walked into an art class that was making a huge paper machete dragon. It was amazing. We also learned more about the application process. It was great!!!!!!
Dear Kavian, I know that you have gone to Eagle Academy and the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering, but also you might want to know our plan for the right path to a right school for us. We have great minds, but let us make sure we have the great schools. It’s better easy to apply, but we need to dig deeper. At Eagle Academy, we met the principal, some teachers, and two students in the 6th grade and 8th grade. We learned a bountiful amount of information. We even toured the school. Mostly, we learned of the process of picking the correct school of your choice. For example, the principal explained that schools will most likely pick you if you apply and attend their open school tours. It is important to make sure you know about more of the school you want to go to. They might have a program you want, but the environment might be too deep for you. When we went to the High School of Math, Science, and Engineering, we learned a lot of things too. That high schools is a specialized high school and enable to attend the school, you have to take a special test. So, if we want to go to a special school, we need to study and work hard. Just like what Eagle Academy said, to find the perfect school for you, research the school. Also, they said coming into the school gives you more opportunities to become successful in life. We met the person who invented the voice control and he said working hard is what’s going to bring you to the special place for you. If we just work hard, we can be there too!
The path I want us to go down isn’t the path of disappointment. I don’t what us to think of what we should have done. I want us to be in the perfect school. If we want to be there, we need to have a plan. First, we need to get 4’s in class and 4’s on the Statewide Tests. We need to have great behavior, no question of that. Then, we need to research the best school for us to make life better for us. We also need to pick a place where learning is the key ingredient. Then, we need to make that application that is the best. Make sure everyone stars in awe. Also, make sure we find more than three schools just in case. With the objective, nothing can stop us at find the right school for us. Kavian, make us proud! Choose the right school for us. I stated all the things we needed enable to complete this problem. From what we learned at Eagle Academy and the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering, there is no stopping us now! Now, let’s make our life better and follow these steps. Your close friend, Kavian
I really enjoyed this trip
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. It was a fun and learning experience for me.
DeleteI really enjoyed the trip to. It was my first time in the city.
DeleteI enjoyed the trip too. I'm glad where a part of Project Boost. Visiting the church was cool too.
DeleteThis trip was a learning experience
DeleteWhat made the trip enjoyable? What did you learn? Where is your information from the notes that you took? Please add.
DeleteI enjoyed the NBC trip a lot it was very and since then I notice the studio on tv I would like to Thank Ms Haigler for accepting me into project Boost and for letting me go on the trip I was really surprised that there were 300 lights and 5-6 cameras. I was really surprised that they do Saturday night live and jimmy Fallon show in that 1 building. When they are on tv they look big but in real life they are really small. I would love to work there. Most jobs require technology experience.
DeleteI enjoyed the trip too
DeleteYour most welcome Nyla. I also look at TV a bit differently knowing that the studio is not that large.
DeleteWe visited NBC studios, Rockefeller center tree, and S.T. Patrick's cathedral
ReplyDeleteI had a fun time in the city.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great trip
DeleteI agree this was a great trip. A trip i will never forget.
DeleteI can't lie it was a great trip.
DeleteWhat is the job of an NBC Page? How does a person go about applying for this position?
DeleteMe too kavian it was very good I wish to work there someday
Deletei enjoyed the trip... what can i say? i am grateful to be in project boost... i am ready to learn more things .
DeleteThe job of an NBC page is to introduce and check up on certain things.
ReplyDeleteIf you worked at NBC in one of the studios, which famous person would you like to meet and see and why? Think in terms of the career you would like to have when you become an adult.
Delete(Ms.H)
I really agree with what you said
DeleteIt was a great trip. I learned so many things about how a news television studio operates. It was fascinating.
ReplyDeleteYes it was amazing to see the people and things it take to make a great show
DeleteI really enjoyed the trip too. I couldn't believe how the studio looked. There was so many cameras.
DeleteI did enjoy it too.
DeleteI enjoyed a lot
DeleteLike Kavian, I learned so many things about NBC Studio. I saw the main stage where they tape the Today show and there were so many lights in the studio. If there is a power outage, they put one hundred and seventy five batteries that last for thirty minutes and soon they will have a generator that lasts for a week. Therefore, they will need a generator once a week until power is restored.
ReplyDeleteNBC means National Broadcasting Company. A worker at the NBC studio has different jobs, they all have to do each job as a rotation process. To apply for this job you must have a resume from college and do reviews several times.
ReplyDeleteFour facts about NBC studio:
1) They use green screens to make unusual things show up during the show.
2) On camera, the images looks ten percent larger than it actually is off camera.
3) If there is a power outage, they put in one hundred seventy five batteries that last for thirty minutes and soon they will have a generator that lasts for a week.
4) They make masks for non fiction time when they make your head look different such as an alien face.
These things stand out for me because I did not know they use green
screens or masks.
Ms. H
DeleteA page has to finish college, put out a resume, and get interviewed to become a page. They are supposed to do various task such as handling technology.
ReplyDeleteFour interesting facts are that NBC was the first TV channel.
I like that part also that the desk are much smaller in person than on tv.

DeleteIt was indeed an amazing trip.
DeleteIt takes a lot of work to become an NBC Page. Would you ever want to have this job after you finish college? Sandfor and Son was one of my favorite shows growing up.
DeleteI agree sanford and son is hilarious redd fox is a very funny guy
DeleteAn Nbc page job is to run errands around the building and other tasks, you can get this job after you complete college and go threw varius interviews.Nbc is an Acronim for National Brodcasting Company.I also saw that all the things that Nbc studios brodcast are in Hd,the nbc Page runs errands, technicans deals with electronics and make-up artist makes all the masks these stuck out to me because they are all the major things that nbc needs.
ReplyDeleteYes, Jarald. It seems as though an NBC Page has many responsibilities. Did you enjoy watching your DVD of you doing the weather report? (Ms. Haigler)
DeleteYes I did thank you for a wonderful field trip.
Delete1)NBC studios stands for National Broadcast Company.
ReplyDelete2)The page's job has to do specific tasks for different programs. Like doing interviews with superstars.First they have to finish school go to college and then apply.
Intresting Facts
1)NBC studips has three different stages that stars perform on.

DeleteI don't think I want to be a NBC page. It looks like a lot of work and I don't like when too many people tell me what to do. LOL.
DeleteYes Jayvon. Objects look so much larger on TV than what we saw at the studio. I was amazed myself. (Ms. H)
Delete1) the job of a page would be to work around the television network . to apply for this job you would first you would have to be out an all ready past college . you would send in an res-ma , regrading all your personal information
ReplyDelete2) NBC stands for national broadcast company .
1)how the camera makes everything 10 times bigger
2)they use the green screen for the news motion pictures
3) how they put on a full decorated mask in less than 10 min.
4)how the actor can choose the set theme
I find these facts interesting to me because thing i never new , things i have always wanted to know .
I learned a lot on the NBC studio trip too. I can't believe how many lights there were in the studio.
DeleteWould you ever want to work as an NBC Page Kaila? A resume is very important when applying for a job.
DeleteI agree with everyone that it's a great trip, but also I just thank Mrs.Hagiler for the experience and thank you Ms.
ReplyDeleteAWW Kavian, you are most welcome!!! (Ms.H)
DeleteThe NBC page works and assist the workers at the studio. Most of the time they to complete four years of college. They have to send in a resume and have some experience in broadcasting or management.
ReplyDeleteNBC stands for National Broadcasting Center.
Four interesting facts I learned as a result of the NBC tour are:
*On television the space looks bigger.
Yes, Thalia, its takes a lot to put on a television show. I didn't realize how small a TV set is in person.
DeleteThese are some of the things that have really caught my attention. That is why I have chosen these areas as the four things to be my most interesting facts. Viewing the operation of a studio in reality amazed me as compared to watching the television at home.
ReplyDeleteYes, thiings are definitely smaller on the television set than they are watching from home
ReplyDeleteLove the trip especially running down the subway
ReplyDeleteHopefully we will not have to do that again. A least we go our excercise and you got a feel of what some New Yorkers must do to not miss their train.
DeleteNBC stands for national broadcasting company.
ReplyDeletetheir job is to do errands around the building. in order to apply for the job, they have to do training first.
ReplyDeletethe trip was fun. i had so much fun that i was so excited. i got interested in what they was talking about. i learned what they do and what their company is about.i hope to go again.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the trip Nyla!
Delete
ReplyDeleteon the trip i had alot of fun it was amazing to see the christmas tree and exploring nbc studio.I learned alot about the caneras, and other things.
i cant argue with that one. i had so much fun also. we learned so much and not only did we go to NBC , we also visited ST.PATRICK cathedril

ReplyDeleteProject Boost Assignment 2
Eagle Academy is a junior high school for only young men through sixth to eighth grade.
Staff questions

The students there are very generous and they have a lot of creativity in their blood. It is a specialized school. That have alot of programs, extra curricilar activities, and clubs to try. It is amazing. When are you coming back to New York?
DeleteEagle Academy opened in 2010 at IS 59 in Springfield Gardens. However, it is now housed at 171-10 Linden Blvd. This school has grades 6 thru 8 and is part of District 29. It is an all boys academy. The principal is Kenyatte Reid. The total enrollment is 164.
ReplyDeleteEagle Academy is a public school.

DeleteI learned a lot visiting Eagle Academy and The High School for Math, Science and Engineering.
ReplyDeleteThalia, I'm glad visiting these schools and hearing about the Writers' Academy Middle School has given you food for thought for your future.
DeleteAfter visiting Eagle Academy and The High School for Math, Science and Engineering, I learned that the work is far more advanced as you move from grade to grade.
ReplyDeleteThe environment is very clean for both schools, but Eagle Academy is much more quiet.
DeleteThe schools that we went to were both great but the one I liked the most were HSMSE.
ReplyDeleteThe questions that I had about middle school.
DeleteI really enjoyed both the scholls , I had a very fun experience at both scholls .
ReplyDeleteI really like how both schools have a saying moto , for instance eagle acdemy had TEAM
T-togethere
E-everyone
A-acives
M-more
the high school math science and engineering had STEAM
S-science
T-Tecnolge
E-engineering
A-and
M-math
I think from going to the elementry school and high school i can set my gaols , to be ready for both elementry and high school
My experience with eagle academy was really good. They kept their school in shape.Don't let the fun fool you because they are a strict school. They have many events and trips. They have this thing called
ReplyDeleteTogether my experience at the high school was amazing also. They also
Everyone have fun events going on.However they do not tolerate the
Achieves nonsense.I really liked that school.

ReplyDeleteQuestions: 1) What does CLEAR stand for?
Deletewhen visiting Eagle Academy I experienced how it feels in schools when there are bells that tell when you are late and should get out of class. I also experienced how an eagle academy classroom works. Also I experienced how students get to class. In terms of work I think there is a high standard considering how much it impacts your grade. I think the rules are very strict because for example if you show up late for class you get punished. I think it's a very friendly environment.
ReplyDeleteWhen visiting High School for math science and engineering I experienced how their students eat at lunchtime.
ReplyDeleteI had the flu so i was unable to make both trips. From the responses it seems like i missed out on a good experience. I learned a lot reading the comments from everyone. I look forward to the next trip.
ReplyDeleteIt was very informational Jayvon.Glad your feeling better!
DeleteThe trip was amazing the students were very friendly and adjusted to us really quickely. THey seemed to be happy and what the counceller said looked that everyone benifeted from being at each school.
ReplyDeleteSorry Ms.Haigler for late assignment I was sick last week and had to go to doctor this week for it.
ReplyDeleteDear Myself,
ReplyDeleteWhen I grow up I want to have a successful career.
Sincerely,
Tyler Bond
Dear Cameron,
ReplyDeleteI visited a junior high school and a high school in the past two weeks and have learned so much about these schools that it has encouraged me to work harder to achieve my goals of wanting to go to the best schools.
Sincerely,
Cameron Jardine
I really enjoyed both schools , I had a very fun experience at both schools . I liked how we got to talk and ask questions from the students of the school .My feelings about both schools I have to say the terms of work they do,really get you ready for the future. Both schools to me are both schools that deserve and have an A+,they are both schools that have something that other schools such as high schools and elementry schools don't have. For example Eagle academy was the only middle school to have 6-7 after school programs . I think that from visting an ELEMENTRY SCHOOL and high school , I know what to do and set my goals . For the coming grades .
Yes Kaila. Stay focused on your goals, have pride in your work and do your best always.
ReplyDeleteI didn't only have fun however; I got a heads-up on how you can get into middle and high school.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed both schools.
ReplyDeleteDear Kavian,
ReplyDeleteI know that you have gone to Eagle Academy and the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering, but also you might want to know our plan for the right path to a right school for us.
Your close friend,
Kavian
